DETAIL DESCRIPTION There is only one house on the corner of E. Moss Mill Road and Old Port Road. It is a rental property, rented by a group of Richard Stockton College of NJ students. The home sits adjacent to a public walking path that connects Moss Mill Road to the Four Seasons Senior Community at Pitney Rd. and Moss Mill Rd. This path is closed to vehicles. There is a No Littering sign posted at the beginning of the path, which is adjacent to both this rental homes yard, and a public pull over for parking for people using the public path. Residents of this home have repeatedly, over the school year, thrown keg parties and have repeatedly trashed the entire corner with beer bottles, red Solo cups, and other trash. About a month ago, there were at least a half dozen small camp fires spread out along the walking path and into the nearby woods on other trails, and each site contained numerous piles of trash, bottles, and even duct tape attached to trees and longs - suggesting possible illegal hazing activities. After about a week, someone cleaned up those trash piles, I suspect it was not a resident of this house, but probably a person or persons from the Four Seasons community, or the nearby Smithville neighborhood. This morning (5-2-2013) there is again, much trash, bottles, and red Solo cups littering the corner of Moss Mill and Old Port Road. There was another party at this house last evening. This has become a nuisance property, breaking not only littering laws, but I suspect underage drinking laws. This problem needs to be addressed. Many people use this path and others in the area - walkers, bikers, joggers, dog walkers... and I know that many of them, including myself, also pick up trash routinely... trash that often originates from this property. |
